Saskatchewan, Carleton women reach semifinals; Bishop’s men fall in quarterfinals at FISU America 3x3
Canada’s three representatives went 4-1 Wednesday on the second day of the 2026 FISU America 3x3 Basketball Championship in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The Carleton and Saskatchewan women’s teams both advanced to Thursday’s semifinals, while the Bishop’s men’s team was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
The defending world university 3x3 champion Carleton Ravens, who posted a 2-0 record on Tuesday, added a quarterfinal win Wednesday. The Ravens squad of Tyanne Matosas-Adderly of Toronto, Catherine Oliver of Sherbrooke, Que., Kyana-Jade Poulin of Brossard, Que., and Jacqueline Urban of Ancaster, Ont., defeated Anahuac of Mexico 21-6 to advance to Thursday’s semifinal.
Carleton will face the National University of Matanza of Argentina on Thursday at 11 a.m. All times are Eastern.
The Saskatchewan Huskies closed pool play with a 21-1 win over UPN of Honduras before defeating the University of Azuay of Ecuador 22-6 in their quarterfinal. The Huskies are represented by Téa DeGroot and Mya Feindel, both of St. Albert, Alta., along with Saskatoon products Ella Murphy Wiebe and Sakatsoon and Logan Reid.
Saskatchewan will face the University of Chile in the other semifinal Thursday at 11:20 a.m.
The women’s bronze-medal game is scheduled for 12:40 p.m., with the championship game to follow at 1 p.m.
On the men’s side, the Bishop’s Gaiters closed pool play with a 22-3 win over the National University of the Peruvian Amazon to finish with a 3-0 record. Bishop’s is represented by Reggie Jean Seraphin of Ottawa, Yanis Malanda of Montreal, Kyle Maurice of Lennoxville, Que., and Charles Robert of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que.
The win sent the Gaiters directly to the quarterfinals against the University of Chile, where they dropped a 14-10 decision to the South American side. Bishop’s will close out the tournament with a consolation game Thursday afternoon.
