Poulin leads Ravens past Bold 60–58 in OT to claim fifth place at U SPORTS Women’s Final 8
Kyana-Jade Poulin scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Carleton Ravens edged the Toronto Metropolitan Bold 60–58 in overtime Saturday in the fifth-place game at the 2026 Sun Life U SPORTS Women’s Final 8, presented by Michelob and Hilton Québec, at Amphithéâtre Desjardins.
In a defensive battle that saw neither team shoot better than 31 per cent from the field, Carleton held on late in overtime to secure the win and finish fifth at the national championship tournament.
The Ravens appeared poised to pull away in the fourth quarter thanks to Poulin, who scored nine of her points in the frame to help Carleton erase a deficit and force extra time. The Ottawa product finished 6-for-19 from the field while adding a block and a steal in a game-high 41 minutes.
Tyanne Matosas-Adderley added 14 points, three assists and three steals for Carleton, while Jacqueline Urban chipped in with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Carleton struggled offensively for long stretches, shooting 29.4 per cent overall and committing 21 turnovers, but controlled the glass with 40 rebounds and made key plays late to secure the victory.
Toronto Metropolitan was led by Myriam Kone, who recorded a dominant double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds while playing 44 minutes. Teammate Hailey Franco DeRyck added 17 points and 14 boards as the Bold narrowly missed a fifth-place finish.
Despite their strong work on the glass — out-rebounding Carleton 44–40 — the Bold struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 3-for-20 from three-point range.
Carleton held a narrow 28–22 lead at halftime before Toronto Metropolitan rallied in the third quarter to take a brief advantage heading into the fourth. The Ravens responded late in regulation to tie the game 53–53, setting up a tense overtime period.
In the extra frame, Carleton limited the Bold to five points while doing just enough offensively to secure the two-point victory and close its tournament with a win.
