The third-seeded Calgary Dinos used a dominant interior presence to overpower the No. 6 McGill Martlets 58-45 in the second quarterfinal of the 2026 U SPORTS Women's Final 8 on Thursday at the Amphithéâtre Desjardins.
Player of the game Kourtney Oss was unstoppable for Calgary, recording a game-high 18 points and 17 rebounds while adding four blocks. The Dinos outscored McGill 42-22 in the paint, overwhelming the Martlets defensively with nine total blocks.
McGill's Emilia Diaz-Ruiz earned player of the game honors in a losing effort, posting 15 points and 14 rebounds. However, the Martlets struggled mightily from the floor, shooting just 24.6 per cent, including just 3-for-23 from three-point range.
After a tightly contested first half that ended 29-27 in favour of Calgary, the Dinos began to pull away in the third quarter behind Oss's interior presence. Calgary extended the lead to 41-36 heading into the fourth before pulling away late. Pollyanna Storie added 13 points and three blocks for the Dinos, while Milica Gajic chipped in eight.
McGill's cold shooting proved too much to overcome, as no other Martlet reached double figures. Daniella Mbengo added six points in the loss.
The victory advances Calgary (27-4, 16-4 CW) to Saturday's semifinal at 3 p.m. against No. 2-seeded UNB. McGill (17-10, 11-5 RSEQ) drops to the consolation side and will face Carleton on Friday at 5 p.m.
