The UBC Thunderbirds booked their spot in the consolation final with a 5-1 victory over the UNB REDS on Saturday at the 2025 Miller Waste U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship.

Kailee Peppler got UBC (30-5-1) on the board at 7:40 of the first period, and Kasundra Betinol doubled the lead with a power-play goal at 17:28. Karine Sandilands struck early in the second period to push the advantage to 3-0.

UNB (25-12-2) broke through in the third when Melanie Drost scored on the power play at 8:25, but UBC responded just 47 seconds later with a goal from Grace Elliott. Chanreet Bassi added another power-play tally at 11:35 to round out the scoring.

Mya Lucifora made 18 saves for UBC, while Cassie McCallum stopped 37 shots for UNB in the loss. The Thunderbirds outshot the Reds 42-19 and went 2-for-7 on the power play.

With the win, UBC will face Alberta in Sunday's fifth-place game.
