Sherbrooke rallies past Brock in five sets to reach national final
The Sherbrooke Vert & Or are headed to the national championship match after outlasting the Brock Badgers in a dramatic five-set semifinal Saturday afternoon at the 2026 U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship, presented by Booster Juice, at the Langley Events Centre.
Second-seeded Sherbrooke prevailed 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-13) over the No. 3 seed Badgers in a tightly contested match between two conference champions.
Sherbrooke improved to 26-2 on the season (20-1 RSEQ) with the victory, while Brock fell to 21-4 (17-3 OUA).
After taking the opening set 25-21, the Vert & Or saw Brock respond with a narrow 25-23 win in the second to even the match. Sherbrooke regained control in the third, pulling away for a convincing 25-15 victory behind strong attacking from Jael-Esther Telfort and Britanie Maranda.
The Badgers refused to go quietly, however, forcing a decisive fifth set after claiming the fourth 25-21. Brock leaned on the offensive duo of Daryan Chadwick and Madison Tuck to extend the match and set up a dramatic finish.
In the deciding set, Sherbrooke steadied itself after an early exchange of points. The Vert & Or used timely blocking and steady serving to create separation before closing out the match 15-13 to punch their ticket to the national final.
Jael-Esther Telfort led Sherbrooke offensively with 16 kills, while Maranda added a team-high 17 kills and 18 digs in a strong all-around performance. Béatrice Dubreuil, named Sherbrooke’s player of the match, contributed 15 kills and four total blocks in the victory.
