Ottawa literally grounded out a 14-9 victory over Calgary behind the powerful running of Neil Lumsden, who finished with 169 yards on 27 carries.
Lumsden, the Ted Morris winner, failed to score a touchdown but did add two conversions in the winning effort.
Ottawa's total of 54 carries, half of them provided by Lumsden, is third in the Vanier Cup record book.
